I learned Cherry Wine in 25 days.
I’m listening to a recording of myself as I write this. I chose to record it in my parents yard, among the bird singing and the quiet of the neighborhood.
My goal was seriously ambitious, but I did it. I’m proud of myself.
I started guitar at the tail end of April. I’d dabbled a bit here and there, followed a YouTube video to learn the first 10 or so seconds of Banana Pancakes, but I had never actually learned a song, any technique, or theory at all. Near the end of April Jacob taught me Moon by a friend of his, a day later he taught me Youth by Daughter. I got finger picking down reasonably quick, but my fingers wore out quickly.
On May 5th I decided I wanted to learn Cherry Wine.
From barely reading tab, to stumbling through the intro, barely finding my transitions, to reading and stumbling through the whole song, to not needing tab at all and playing freely. I did it. I met my goal. FUCK yes.
