What colour best describes you, and why?

I think everyone has a colour, or at least a palette. Some people are yellows, full of energy and seem to radiate a happiness that can be infectious. Some are purples with a darkness that can be healing, or all consuming and lead you to becoming a purple yourself. Some are reds, full of fire and possibility or possibly just chaos. Most often people have a few colours which blend perfectly into who they are.

I am a soft colour, somewhere between an orange, brown, and a pink. Found in things old and new, delicate and but sturdy. I think I’m a colour of comfort, warmth, and things that ground us when noticed but are often taken for granted The colour of sand during sunrise perhaps, or maybe a perfectly made cappuccino (I am fuelled at least 50% by good coffee).

I can sometimes be the colour of a cabin in the rainforests of the PNW, smelling of cedar and rain, in a place that’s peaceful and warm but isolated and lonely.

I can sometimes be the colour of the sky as the sun sets after a rainstorm, perhaps having been the rainstorm first.

I can sometimes be the colour of wood, holding up our trees for air and our homes for shelter, and allowing myself to burn to keep others warm.

I can sometimes be the colour of sand, washed away in an ocean of thoughts, the water sending me on a journey where my shape is changed and I come to shore somewhere new.

I can sometimes be the colour of clay, having been many shapes and having the ability to be many more but at the mercy of the hands that shape me.

I think, like the things that represent my colours, I am changed by those close to me, those who touch me, and those who embrace me.
